Personal Locator Beacons

Satellite technology has enabled faster search and rescue during severe weather conditions. Severe weather events can strike at any time. It is not unlikely to be trapped in them even during vacations or any occasions in which it is least expected to happen. In fact, it is usually the vacationers, hikers, campers and climbers who find themselves in such a difficult situation.

A series of satellites in operation are designed to “search out and rescue”. A personal locator beacon can send messages to satellites in case of a severe weather distress call. It is able to function even in the most remote areas or location. No one can really predict for sure when flashfloods, blizzards and tornadoes would occur but a personal locator beacon gives the victims a better chance of survival.
