Geometric Expansion

March 28th, 2008

Technological growth is almost always geometric and not linear. One industry’s previous inventions tend to spawn new developments in another as when medical technologies for example, profit from the previous developments in the electronic defense industries. A specific example is that of Thermal Imaging System for cardiac surgery which is based on Thermal Coronary Angiography or TCA, the technology of which was originally developed for military uses like night vision and heat-seeking surveillance.

Many benefit from the improved accuracy in angiographic imaging including the physician, the patient, medical administrators and insurers. A created device invariably spins off other developments during application of its use. Benefits may be passed on in different forms but is welcomed just the same for the good it does to mankind.
